Simple Landscape Upgrades to Enhance Every HOA Community in Greensboro, NC

Simple Landscape Upgrades to Enhance Every HOA Community in Greensboro, NC

Lots of people want their home to be part of an HOA community, whether a stand-alone house, cluster home, condo or townhouse. A homeowner’s association ensures a continuity of style and standards within the neighborhood, affords protection from neighbors with ugly or dangerous habits, and also provides amenities for us to enjoy. Below are some ideas for your HOA to enhance your community’s appeal:

Apply New Mulch

Refreshing your mulch is the easiest (and relatively inexpensive) way to breathe new life into your landscape, for both individual homes and common areas. Mulch not only improves appearance, it also helps keep weeds from developing and helps hold in moisture, which can save money on your water bill. However, mulch does decompose (which actually enriches the soil) and can sometimes wash away, so it will need to be replenished about every year or so.

Seasons Change, So Should Your Landscape

Changing annuals with the seasons, as well as planting trees and shrubs that bloom at various times will really create an interesting landscape portrait. Trees and shrubs provide a backdrop that allows your flowers to stand out. There are flowers for every season and annuals are relatively inexpensive. Of course, we all know the abundance of blooming that begins in spring and last throughout summer, but fall has its beauties too. Not to mention the foliage! In the winter, berries and bark take front stage on deciduous trees, and pansies show their sweet faces. And of course evergreens provide year-round greenery. There’s no reason for your landscape to be boring, ever!

Plant Around Your Property’s Unique Spots

The Entrances to your community are your first impression (and possibly only impression for those who simply drive by but never enter) to the world. Don’t neglect this area—beautiful plantings, proper lighting and tasteful signage signal to everyone that your community is well cared for and desirable.

Common areas such as the clubhouse, pool, trails, tennis courts, playgrounds, corners, parking areas, etc. are also opportunities to add beauty. Container plantings around the pool and clubhouse add color and style, and elevate your property above the ordinary. Adding plantings at corners or in rotaries make driving more pleasurable.

Update Your Fittings and Fixtures

Making sure your community looks its best also includes such things as signage, garbage cans, light fixtures, benches, pool furniture, hardware on common area doors, etc. When these things start looking a little shabby, the whole community looks a little unkempt too. Make sure whatever you add coordinates and complements the existing materials.

When you have an HOA, it is because you want your home to be the best it possibly can be. You pay dues to have a pleasant community surrounding your personal space, and paying attention to these few simple touches can go a long way toward preserving and increasing the aesthetic appeal of your community. Hiring a professional landscaper can help you achieve and maintain this.
